Dharamshala is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Located in the Dhauladhar ranges, the city has a scenic beauty unlike others. Located in the Kangra district, Dharamshala is the winter capital of the city and overlooks the plains. The forests here are covered in pines and deodars, with lots of streams. The upper regions of Dharamshala is the place where His Holiness the Dalai Lama functions from.
As far as connectivity is concerned, the closest airport to Dharamshala is located 13km in Gaggal. For railways, Pathankot is the closest broad-gauge station, located 85km away. The toy train station of Kangra, however, is just 17km away. The road connectivity to Dharamshala is very good.One can drive down in their own vehicle, hire a private taxi or opt for buses. The road travel time to Dharamshala from Delhi is between 10-12 hours.From Pathankot it takes between 2-4 hours.
