Shimla to Manali route by road
Shimla is the most preferred route when travelling to Manali. The tourists can reach Shimla from Delhi, Chandigarh, Kalka and so on via toy train or a bus.
Spend a day or 2 in Shimla and check out the beautiful attractions and activities in Shimla. Then, start early to enjoy the sceneries on the way to Manali in the daylight.
Reaching Shalaghat
If you travel for 33 km from Shimla, Shalaghat can be reached. In Shalaghat, you can have breakfast. In 49 km, you will be able to reach Daldamode. After crossing 66 km from Shimla, Bage can be reached. Just after 78 km, you will be reaching Beri junction.
This junction is located just before Bilaspur. This junction is the main interconnection point where the road from Delhi, Chandigarh and Kalka connect to the Shimla-Manali road. Travelling further for 6 km will allow you to reach Barmana.
Bilaspur and Sundernagar
Right after 105 km from Shimla, Bilaspur can be reached. Within a few kilometers, Harabag will be touched.
Harabag houses plenty of restaurants and Dhabas which serve delectable food varieties. You can find Sundarnagar Lake in this area. Please be aware that photography is prohibited in this area.
Mandi and Pandoh
After 25 km from Sundarnagar, Mandi can be reached. At this place, you will be welcomed with Beas River. You can enjoy spectacular views of this river on the right side until you reach Manali.
So, it is advisable to reach place named Mandi early. From 12 km from Mandi, Pandoh Dam can be found on the right side. Again, photography is not allowed in this area.
Aut tunnel and Village Aut
If you travel further for 12 km, Anokhi Mata temple can be reached. 22 km from here will take you to Aut town.
On the way to this town, you will pass 2.8 km tunnel. Before entering the tunnel, you will cross Jalori pass and Rampur. Wonderful restaurants are lined up in the town of Aut.
Bhunter airport
Have a quick bite and hot beverage and continue your journey towards Manali. Manali is located at 69 km from Aut town. After 15 km from Aut town, Buntur Airport can be reached.
This is the spot where Parvati River combines with Beas River. You can visit the Vaishno Devi temple in this area. If you are into adventure, you can also try river rafting in this area.
Kullu town
Babeli is known for selling Kullu dresses, woollen clothes and traditional carpets. You can do shopping in this place. To avoid traffic, take the bypass road in Kullu town. Right before Manali, Naggar town is located which is famous for its Naggar Castle.
The bypass operates throughout the year. Even snowfall doesn’t affect the road. The bypass road is the main connection to Manali from various parts of the country.
