Things to do in Chail

Chail was the former Summer capital for the state Patiala Punjab. Chail located at a distance of 43 km from Shimla. Chail spread on an elevation of 2250 meters. This hill station is perfect in every season. In Summers, this is paradise for the people comes here to have a quiet holiday in unruffled surroundings. Chail palace is the famous architecture of Chail built in 1891. Now this palace has converted to a heritage hotel. There are numerous things to do holidaying around Chail.

 Stay in Chail Palace

Chail Palace built in 1891 by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh. This hotel has later become the property of the government and presently owned by Himachal Tourism Development Corporation. Chail palace sprawled around the 75-acre land. Thick forest area around the hotel elevates its charisma. All the modern convenience like the luxurious bathroom with bathtub is available at the hotel. Apart from this, all the rooms have amenities like wall to wall carpet, fireplace, and antique furniture.

Other Facilities:- Open air café, Multi-cuisine restaurant, tennis lawn, lawn tennis court, Billiards room, Badminton court and park for children.

Kali Ka Tibba

Kali Ka Tibba perched on the highest elevation in Chail. Temple devoted to Goddess Kali surrounded by trees of Himalayan oak and pine. Snow Clad mountains of Choordhar can be seen from Kali Ka Tibba. Kali ka Tibba reached by trek route to the temple. On the way, there is a possibility to get a glimpse of the rare wild animal from the jungle. Early morning and late evening before sunset is the best time to visit Kali Ka Tibba.

Wild Life Sanctuary

Chail wildlife sanctuary was the hunting ground for Raja Bhupinder Singh. This sanctuary covers 10,854.36 hectare area conserve the animal-like goral, Flying squirrel, Himalayan Black Dee and Red Deer. Chail Sanctuary came into existence in 1976. This sanctuary is also home of various species of wildflowers and plants. Fauna of the sanctuary includes Pine, Himalayan Oak, Cedar and Green Meadows inside the forest.

Shopping in Chail

The main shopping area of Chail is a local market of Chail called Chail Bazar. You can buy woolens, squashes, juices, jams, fruits and even branded items from this market. Moreover, you can buy local articles for home décor from this markets. Rugs and carpets are also available in Chail bazaar. Apart from this, buy metal ornaments and local stone studded jewelry from here. All these local items are available at very genuine prices even tourist can bargain on prices.

Sadhupul lake

Sadupul lake located 12 km from Chail. It takes half an hour to reach from Chail via Kufri road. Sadhupul Visit is a full day excursion from Chail. The highlight of this spot is a restaurant inside the lake. You can munch your favorite snack dipping your feet in the water. Maggi, bread omelet, tea, coffee, and noodles are available at the restaurant. In monsoon chairs and tables pulled out of the water when the flow of water increases.

 Sidh Baba ka Mandir

Sidh Baba ka Mandir located at hilltop between Pandhawa and Rajgarh. This temple devoted to the famous saint of Chail called Sidh Baba. Temple located on peaceful surroundings and tranquil ambiance. This area encircled with a lush green forest of deodar and Himalayan oak. Legend says one-day Sidh Baba came in the dream of Raja Bhupinder Singh and told that he used this place for his daily meditation. Next day Bhupinder Singh started construction of the temple in respect of Sidh Baba.
