Trekking In Himachal Pradesh

Few places in the country can parallel the beauty of Himachal Pradesh. The mountain ranges here are so picturesque, you’ll be left breathless. The natural landforms, the streams, and the flora & fauna are mesmerizing. For nature lovers, the best way to experience Himachal Pradesh is through Treks.

The state has many trekking routes that tourists can choose from. Starting from easy treks like Triund to difficult treks like Pin Parvati, this state has it all. Read ahead for the most sought-after treks in the country.

Beas Kund

This easy to moderate level trek is ideal for beginners. The short 16 km distance can be covered in 2 days. Starting in Solang Valley, the trek takes you to the glacier where the Beas River originates from. Near the glacier is the Beas Kund, set against the beautiful PirPanjal Ranges. Go for this between May and October.

Kheer Ganga

This is one of the easiest and most popular trekking routes in the country. The starting point of Kasol puts you right in the lap of nature. Walking along the Parvati Valley with the Kheer Ganga River, you will feel peaceful. The short 12 km Trek can easily be completed in 6-7 hours. To celebrate, you can take a dip in the hot water spring at Kheer Ganga! Go for this between May and July.

Chandra Tal

This moderate grade trek will take you to the Chandra Taal Lake, through the Lahaul and Spiti Valley. There are many legends associated with this lake. It is believed that this is where Lord Indra met Yudhidhtra, the eldest of the Pandavas, to take him to heaven. If you ask someone who’s done the trek, they’d tell you that this place itself is heaven. Go for this Trek between June and September.

Hampta Pass

This pass connects the Lahaul and the Kullu Valley. Throughout your route, you’ll pass through beautiful forests. There are many streams and rivulets as well. The best part, however, is when one comes to the snow and ice-covered track. Be sure to wear proper trekking shoes because the ice can be slippery. Go for this trek between May and October

Pin Parvati

This 100 km trek is truly challenging. Be sure to prepare well since you will face a steep incline, cold and unpredictable weather and difficult terrain. It takes 9-11 days to complete the trek, but the scenic beauty is worth it. Right from when you start in the KulluVally, you’ll be enchanted. Go for this trek between July and September.

Bhabha Pass

This challenging trek will be grueling, but you will enjoy every minute. Take your time here, and give yourself 18-20 days so that you can enjoy it. The unpredictable weather makes things a little difficult. But the sights of the mountains and the picturesque monasteries will invigorate you. Go for this Trek between June and September.
